History
We have owned her since 2012, purchased from a chap in Gillingham, Dorset making us her sixth owner. She was a nonrunner and dry stored since 2012 stripped down to her bare bones during covid 2021. Originally almond Green, she came off the production line in 1971 and was exported pretty much straight away to Germany for the first 3 years of her life and developed her new look of “Mercedes Green”, we don’t know who owned her but the story we like is that she was exported by a squaddie based in Germany and painted a Mercedes Green, maybe free paint from the workshop.
She was stripped and rebuilt from top to bottom, using Heritage body panels to replace all the rusty bits, whole new floor and boot floor, two complete sides, rear valance and panel, front window panel, two wings, two A panels and many little finishing panels. She’s had the most amazing spray job, with the underbody, inside boot, car and engine bay spray with raptor paint tinted to the same colour as the main body.
As you can imagine there was a massive parts order to rebuild her and here are just a few items we bought and replaced:
Rear Subframe, poly bush kit front and back, remote break servo, 7.5 break conversion, drive shafts, front hubs, wheel bearings, new front and rear wiring loom, alarm, immobiliser, tracker, Dash, air vents, new breaks and pipes soundproofing, carpet, Exhaust, electric ignition, the list goes on, she has had no expense spared, oh nearly forgot a reconditioned 1275 metro engine. She was finally finished and road worthy in July 2022 and we started to put on the 1134 miles that she currently sits at.
We have put our own mark on her refitting her with Mini Cobra Classic Seats front and back, a new steering wheel the tiny 10” one was just ridiculous, a new dash with Smiths, oil pressure, rev counter clocks and bespoke 10” alloys.
She is snug and warm now in our underlaid and linoed garage and is still being pampered with a new upgrade to her carburettors from a metro to classic mini twin SU, so she’s much more efficient.
We have a really good provenance on this Mini which we are more than happy to show you to support the sale. Lots of paperwork, historical receipts, our receipts, the restorer’s breakdown of works, and gallery showing the restoration journey.
Her restoration has cost in total £19k but we all know that you never see that back, we don’t do this for the money we do it for the love of the Mini.
We are now looking for the next adventure in our lives and have decided to invest in a camper van, so our Fully restored Mini 1000 is for Sale. As featured in the British Mini Association magazine this Mini has been valued by the BMA so we know what this Mini is worth and we are in no hurry to sell. We would request that only serious buyers who can see the value of this vehicle from this advert and who will understand its worth should contact us for a viewing.
