2018 just gets better, with an excellent weekend of camping, Mini and VW Bus Meet fun in the sun. It was scorching hot at the DK Rugby Club near Kingswinford for two days. A fabulous turn out in the camping area, which saw a big increase over last years numbers.
Visitors being entertained to an early evening acoustic guitar set, by up and coming young talent 19 year old Sam Doyle. He treated us to versions of Ed Sheeran, Stereophonics, Killers and more. This young man will go far in the music world. Please give him a like and follow at https://www.facebook.com/SamDoyleAcoustic/
Later in the evening Rock covers band Miles2Darby played in the club house and certainly managed to get everyone up dancing. With covers from AC/DC, Rolling Stones and finishing with a rousing rendition of The Killers ‘Mr Brightside’. They were interrupted a couple of times by a stag party who decided to give us all a couple of tunes as well. How brilliant that a groom to be decided to have his stag do at the Mini & VW Bus Meet. We are sure the cheap beer had nothing to with it. Follow Miles2Darby on https://www.facebook.com/Miles2Darby/
On to Sunday and the Show N Shine arena had a great feel to it. With more Mini’s than last year and a similar amount of VW’s taking part as well. Though maybe some in the camping hadn’t quite recovered enough from the previous evening to take part. Nevertheless it was all good fun, with everyone in Show N Shine being able to vote for their favourite car in each class. It certainly took some time to add up all the votes in the intense heat but many thanks to our head judge Fiona Mannion and of course everyone for taking the time to vote. We think it’s a great way to judge as it encourages people to wander around the show and relax..
It’s fantastic to see various other classic vehicles turn out to visit us as well with a mixture of Volkswagen Beetles and Golf Cabriolets. Also a stunning Austin Healey Sprite and a lovely Triumph TR6. They were all quality cars and it was a joy to see them. Maybe this is something we can expand for next year. A big thank you to everyone for putting so much effort into displaying your vehicles and please give your yourselves a pat on the back.
It’s also lovely to see more traders supporting the meet, it could evolve into a great place to showcase new products etc. Thank you to our show sponsors Auto Glym, who continue to support the British Mini Club. We have plans for a few tweaks for next year, but will always keep it as an old skool meet

The British Mini Club’s main man Dave Hollis told us after the meet “Fab weekend of Mini & VW Bus camping. We were blessed with amazing weather making it our biggest Mid Summer Mini & VW Bus Meet ever.
Special thanks to everyone that helped over the weekend, also for all the campers that respected the grounds and facilities that DK has to offer. Congratulations to all the owners that displayed an awesome collection of Minis and VW camper vans… hope you all enjoyed it, we certainly did, it was a privilege to spend the weekend with you all, can’t wait for next year!!”
“Next Year….
If you keep supporting the event we will always offer you the best value for money camping weekend event around. We are planning to make a few changes but want to keep the event manageable and enjoyable for all involved.
The facilities at DK are probably the best around with proper showers and toilets and a cracking bar for the entertainment, making it an ideal place to show off our iconic vehicles in style…
The big question is who is up for it next year??? Let us know by commenting at www,facebook.com/miniandvwbusmeet
