Mini Fair 2022 Results

James Hunt wins the Premier Concours Final, sponsored by Autoglym, at Mini Fair. Plus the coveted Silver Trophy plus £700 with his incredible MK1 Austin Mini. This really is a superb Classic Mini and we know the struggle James went through to rebuild his MK1. We were told afterwards it was basically a basket case that he has restored in a garage at the side of his house. This included rebuilding the seats, from a very rusty frame on a bench in his garden, with a pile of old horse hair around him. Now that’s commitment for you. Many people would have given up at the point, us included.

Well done to all the other Premier Final entrants, you are all winners in our eyes and deserved your place on the red carpet. We hope you all enjoyed the day as much as we did.

What a day, and it was great to back at Bingley Hall near Stafford for Mini Fair 2022. It was wonderful to see everyone to help us celebrate the 30th year of the British Mini Club. Mini Fair was a little later this year but it was a magnificent start to 2022.

The Premier Concours Final on the red carpet is to celebrate the class winners from our shows in 2021 to find the overall champion of champions. Ranging from a MK1 Austin Mini to a MINI R56 with Lambo doors. An incredible competition and so tough on our top judges, Steve Moore and Dave Webb. Both judges have been around Mini’s for years and know them inside out. Steve is probably the leading expert on the 1st generation MINI.

Both judges took their time on each Mini including using clean white gloves for every can, plus a torch, this reveals every single swirl mark and more. Very little separated all 9 Mini’s. They are of such incredible quality and a massive credit to each and every owner and the time they spend on them. Well done to everyone involved..

For the first time at Mini Fair we had a brand new class.. Modified Mini’s.. This was very kindly sponsored by Stratstone MINI Derby. Designed for both original and modern Mini’s everyone put on a brilliant display and well done to winner Mark O’Neill with his incredible MK3 Mini. A very close second was a remarkable  roof chopped R53 MINI owned and created by Richard Everett. This is a show stopping Mini in its own right. Definitely a class we will continue at Mini Fair and a big thank you to Stratstone for the support.

Pride Of Ownership at Mini Fair is not all about the Mini but is also about the owner. Kindly sponsored by Autoglym, every winner received a pack of Autoglym from regional operator Branson Poyner. We were told of one who spends their retired years building a Harley Davidson engined Mini Van at home. Jack Whitehurst taking the front end of his MINI with only one hand as he had just had a 4 hour operation to plate a broken wrist. Plus another taking 14 hours overnight replacing his headlining with an app controlled twinkling star headlining two days before the show. Because a professional fitter challenged him to do it. Or placing Swarovski Crystal one by one around the dashboard. Just incredible

You are all stars and helping to keep the Mini scene alive. A massive thank you to everyone.

Club stands were magnificent as always, and also included an Italian Job Tour starting with a Land Rover. Thank you to all for keeping the spirit going.
