26 degrees of British summer sun heralded the arrival of the start of the British Mini Clubs concours season at Himley Hall. What perfect weather for an excellent turn out of entrants in both the concours and Show N Shine.
As we have said before the quality of the concours Mini’s increases every year. We have even started to see images posted on Facebook during the build up to the show of all the hard work going on to get into the Premier Final at Stoneleigh in October.
As always our judges had a very hard time as all the Mini’s are so good. Eventually from all the class winners Steven Moore with his tremendous 10 year old Generation One MINI GP1 took the ultimate crown of Mini of the Day. This is the very first time a modern MINI has won this award. Steven has improved every single year and is a stalwart of the British Mini Club concours scene. He takes the time to listen and always seeks to improve, always looking at changes and upgrades. Well done Steve this award is very well deserved.
Show N Shine continues to grow with a very strong line-up of both classic and modern. This is self judging and it was good to see all the entrants taking the time to have a look around the cars in the Show N Shine and casting their vote. Excellent to see so many taking up the chance of being in the showground and showing off their Mini’s to the public without the pressure of concours.
Great turnout of clubs from around the country who were given the option of creating their own theme, what a great time the clubs always have at Himley. Midland Mini Club chose Pirates of the Caribbean – getting people to walk the plank, the Tamworth Mini Maniacs took on a film theme from each decade of Mini on their stand -then to the winners, Stoke Orange Boxes with a superb Willy Wonka display.
Thank you to everyone who attended Himley Hall helping to make it a massive sucess. Special thanks to members and friends of the BMC who gave up their precious time setting up and helping the whole weekend run smoothly. We are the driving force of Mini events in the UK.
